The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
